Guitar Lessons Cost Too Much!

We are talking about some guitar teachers over representing their qualifications to teach guitar through over inflated guitar lesson rates here.

The internet is awash with 'guitar teachers' who can barely play themselves but are overly confident or just 'trying it on' and passing off as real 'guitar teachers' to guitar students who don't know better.

Some will tell you they are qualified to take you through graded exams. Whilst this seems tempting you should know that teaching yourself the graded syllabus is certainly a reality if you have a basic grasp on guitar playing. At the end of studying you are free to put in for the exam YOURSELF. You do not need a guitar teacher to enter you for any guitar exam.

As a general rule graded exams are good starting points ( in some but not all cases ) from which to progress your playing. You could consider a grade 8 exam pass ( at any level ) as almost 'A' level like.

Guitar teachers who don't have high level qualifications and a genuine musical history charge the same as those that do. this is known as over representing your qualifications. There is no reason that all guitar lessons hover around £20.

Under qualified 'guitar teachers should come in at around £10 an hour as they really are nothing more than 'guitar friends' you play with.
